Designing sustainability is a series of courses that capacitates professionals to develop creative and efficient solutions for the complex crisis of sustainability of today’s society, offering the participants a systematic perspective that uses theoretic reflection in combination with practical experience, working through the four areas of human experience – Social, economic, ecological, and world vision – all in all 176 hours of readings as well as 40 hours of practical training. Launched in 2005, Gaia Education now takes place annually in more than 15 countries, contributing to the planning and development of sustainability in our society. Its content is applicable in situations ranging from small projects through communities to entire cities. This educational program is produced in association with GEN (Global Eco-village Network) and its content is an official contribution to the International Decade of Education for Sustainable Development of the United Nations (2005-2014). This project, designed and implemented by Terra Una and financed by the cultural ministry of the Brazilian government, consists in creating a Cultural Center in the nearby town of Liberdade and holding courses for the local population who’s access to information and cultural activities are very limited.
